Samurai Grasshopper

Little did Gimlet know that Grasshopper he was chasing this morning was a Samurai warrior, just looking for one last great battle. They had a merry chase through the damp grass- with Gimlet getting the grasshopper by just the very bottom of one back leg and was proudly bringing him to me, when- in an amazing maneuver the Samurai brought his body around and bit Gimlet's nose and rode his face like a cowboy on a bronco!

company

I had company this morning, a hawk- looking faintly disgusted, perched on the railing along the edge of the lawn, about 25 yards away. We spend a few moments, me with a idiot smile on my face, just looking at each other. *Without breaking eye contact*, he turns his back to me, lifts his tail feathers and shoots out a stream of excrement. He stared at me a breath more, shrugged and leapt in to the air.

Karo Syrup

the building right behind us, gets the dawns light slowly poured over the top of it, like Karo's syrup, just ever so slowly skimming down. The building that is to the left and in direct view of the sun, it's almost as if the brick and vinyl siding just start to glow, just ever so softly and gets more and more warm till the whole eastern side is lit seemingly from within with gold warmth.

Jackie

this morning I had a gold grasshopper in one of my plants. He leapt out when I watered the plant to hug the iron railing, then danced around it when I tired to get a better look at him. He reminded me of Jackie Chan with his quick little mincing steps as we chased each other around the iron railing. A fun way to start the morning... bastard better not be eating my echinacea..

Envy

My new apartment over looks a green belt that runs through the middle of the 'plex. I have a tremendous view of the western sky above the tress and the other buildings. I could see in the east facing windows a watery refection of what must have been an amazing sunrise of lava pinks. I tried not to be envious..and to enjoy the light dusting of pink painted on western clouds.
